Live Edge Red Oak Lumber

Red Oak is a heavy and hard wood. It is easy to work with sharp tools. This wood has a moderate blunting effect on cutting edges. It sands, turns and bores well.  Red Oak has a reddish brown color. It contains smaller rays and less figure than white oak. The grain is straight and open. It has a coarse texture.

Many furniture makers will use Red Oak because it is an affordable hardwood species, it is relatively easy to find almost anywhere in the United States, and because it is strong and stable.  Also, it accepts stain fairly well.

Our live edge Red Oak boards range from about 48" to 96" long.  Occasionally, we do get longer pieces, but those almost always sell first.  Widths are random, and you can see how, as they get wider, the cost per board foot does increase.

All our live edge lumber comes surfaced on top and bottom, and the boards are finished to 15/16" thick, perfect for charcuterie boards, serving trays, and much more.

As with all our lumber, we sell Red Oak by the board foot.  So, the prices below are the per-board-foot price.  We will pick the slab(s) that best matches the number of board feet you order, or you can come to our shop and pick out the slab(s) you want, and we will go from there.
