Honey Locust Lumber
Honey locust lumber is a heavy, hard and durable hardwood that's native to North America. It's often used for furniture, cabinet making, and other construction projects. Here are some characteristics of honey locust lumber:
- Color: Honey Locust heartwood is a medium to light reddish brown, while the sapwood is a light yellow.
- Texture: Has a coarse, open, and somewhat uneven texture.
- Grain: Honey Locust lumber has a straight or slightly irregular grain.
- Strength: Very strong in bending.
- Rot Resistance: Moderately durable to durable, but it's susceptible to insect attacks.
- Workability: Honey Locust can be difficult to work with hand and machine tools, but it turns, glues, stains, and finishes well.
We stock Honey Locust at our headquarters in Spring, TX, so if you are picking up locally, you are welcome to get as little or as much as you need. If, however, you need your lumber shipped, we require a minimum purchase of 250BF. Please select from the proper hardness and thickness that you need. (Hard Ambrosia Maple is harder to find - and the lumber itself is stronger - hence the price difference.)
Freight rates for dimensional lumber must be calculated (on our end) before we are able to process your order, and this will vary, depending on the amount of lumber you need, distance, etc. Therefore, before placing an order for full length dimensional lumber, we ask that you please send us a message so that we can generate a quote for you.
