Wenge Lumber

Wenge is an exotic wood, native to the open forests of Zaire, Cameroon, Gabon, the southern regions of Tanzania, and Mozambique. It is also found in the swampy forests of the Congo region. Wenge is reported to be a suitable substitute for Hickory for the production of sporting goods. It is moderately hard and resistant to wearing and marring.

Strength qualities in compression parallel to grain are exceptionally high. Wenge is quite tough and can be hard on blades, so we highly recommend helical cutterheads whenever possible. And beware of splinters.

Wenge is one of our best selling exotic hardwood species, hands down. And, paired with a lighter toned species, such as Curly Soft Maple, the grain seems to "pop" even more; the contrast of dark and light is very attractive.

We stock SEL&BTR grade Wenge at our headquarters in Spring, TX. All our dimensional lumber is milled S3S, and the prices listed below are the per-board-foot prices.

If you are picking up locally, you are welcome to get as little or as much as you need. If, however, you need your lumber shipped, we require a minimum purchase of 250BF.

Freight rates for dimensional lumber must be calculated (on our end) before we are able to process your order, and this will vary, depending on the amount of lumber you need, distance, etc. Therefore, before placing an order for full length dimensional lumber, we ask that you please send us a message so that we can generate a quote for you.
